
More than 150 films from 38 countries were sent to the 14th Tashkent Film Festival
The program of the festival includes more than 100 world films. They will be shown as part of the World Cinema Days.
United Kingdom, Malaysia, Poland, Romania, France, Estonia, Japan, Italy, Israel, Egypt, Australia, Brazil, Netherlands and other countries will show their best films during the World Cinema Days. All films will be subtitled or dubbed in Uzbek.
Famous directors and screenwriters from abroad will hold seminars and master classes for novice filmmakers, as well as film screenings and discussions with critics.
- Last year at the 13th Tashkent International Film Festival there were 14 countries represented, this year there were 38," Firdavs Abdukhalikov, deputy chairman of organizing committee of the 14th Tashkent International Film Festival and general director of the Cinema Agency, said. - This proves that the reforms implemented by President Mirziyoyev in cinema industry are yielding real results. Abroad there is a growing interest in the potential of Uzbek cinematography. More and more countries express interest in creating joint projects, filming in Uzbekistan, and co-financing films. In connection with this, Tashkent Film Festival Management has made decision to organize special business program - meetings of film distributors, producers, directors and other specialists in cinema sphere. This platform will allow to attract new investments to Uzbekistan, to enlist support of international partners and to increase co-production portfolio in quality.
Participants will show their films in the regions and hold meetings with the audience. Each country will be assigned its own location in Tashkent, Khiva, Bukhara, Kokand, Ferghana, Gulistan, Shakhrisabz, Termez, Gulistan, Karshi and Nukus.
