Within the framework of the Tashkent International Film Festival "Pearl of the Silk Road" a master class was held with the participation of Frederic Diefenthal, who played inspector Emilien from the films "Taxi".
He gained popularity as a friend of the main character of the movie franchise Daniel. Frederic Diefenthal dropped out of school at the age of 15 and began working as an assistant in a hotel, then for a while worked also as a hairdresser.
His interest in comedy prompted him to attend acting classes. Diefenthal's acting debut took place in 1991. However, his fame was brought to him by the role of an inspector in the films "Taxi", for which he was awarded the prize "Cesar" as the best young actor.
At the master class in Tashkent, he began his performance with humor, talking about funny scenes during filming in the movie "Taxi". For example, how falling into a garbage can, crashing into a store and other moments.
Speaking about preparing for the role, Frederic Diefenthal said:
"Never strive to be perfect. We are human after all and we make mistakes. What is important in an actor is how organically he conveys the character of the hero. And also important is the atmosphere during filming. It has to be so good that the actor feels happy there. I think this directly affects the success of the movie.
During the master class Frederic Diefenthal also emphasized that the film "Taxi" forever strengthened their tandem with Sami Naseri as the image of their characters - an inspector and a desperate driver: "When director Luc Besson told me that I passed the casting, I could not hide emotions. Now I can say for sure, like a pair of Asterix and Obelix, Sami Nasseri and I unexpectedly created a world-famous image," said Frederic.
He also emphasized that if there are offers from Uzbekistan, he would agree to work in film projects.
