How is determined prestige of film festival?
The film industry serves not only the economic and cultural potential of the country, but also the development of its international image
There is no clear definition of the term film festival, but the presentation of visual developments in an international context on the basis of a non-specialized competition program is considered a film festival.
Most prestigious film festivals are accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Association (IFFPA). IFFPA was founded in 1933 and today has 34 member associations. In addition to licensing, IFFPA deals with the regulation of film festivals, the organization of the film and television industry, the improvement of copyright legislation, and the coordination of digital technologies.
The IFFPA -accredited film festival proves that it belongs to the "A" class. Countries with a long history of cinema, as well as countries with a large number of foreign filmmakers, are usually considered worthy of this level.
The Tashkent International Film Festival, which has a 53-year history, was last held in 1997 and was revived this year. The 29-year-old revived film festival is scheduled for September-October and is expected to bring together national and international filmmakers. This will further enhance the role of our country in the international film industry.
